The federal holiday is, in fact, Washington’s Birthday. It is not and never has been Presidents’ Day.
That’s appropriate. George Washington was a giant among men, and the single individual most responsible for our nation surviving its birth.
So Happy Washington’s Birthday!

It is hard to imagine the enthusiasm for creation, and the hope, that must have existed during those decades in which our country was founded. And the circumspection.
